Opening hours are much more restrictive than in the UK, so assume that all grocery shops are closed on Saturday afternoons, Sundays and public holidays although some shops may open for a couple of hours in the morning.
For late nights, Sundays and public holidays the Jet petrol station (Brucker Bundes Strasse 108) has a limited selection of basics but you can get milk, bread etc.
Food
Billa: located in pedestrian area a short walk from the apartment, opens at 7am daily (except Sunday & holidays). This is a very well stocked shop.
Spar: on Brucker Bundes Strasse. This is closer and recently upgraded but in our opinion does not quite have the selection of the Billa.
Vegetable shop: An excellent shop on Schlossplatz. Also has good selection of Asian goods.
Bakeries: Open early (not on holidays), most at 6.45 -7am so great for fresh bread & croissants & delicious pastries & cakes.
Delicatessens: Good cured meats etc available
